Fall 2024 After-School Classes
At Atlas Debate, students learn how to create arguments through research and logic, refute them, and cross examine their opponents. Students learn to analyze news and reports on a unique policy topic, and each class concludes with a mock tournament with 3 rounds where students practice the skills they learned. Class sizes are capped at 8 students — ensuring individual attention for all students.
For new students: After-school classes are an excellent introduction to debate for shy students or students with no experience. Students will be paired with other inexperienced students, and build confidence and public speaking skills, before learning argumentation and debate!
For experienced students: Returning students are paired with other experienced students. Classes dive into more advanced debate techniques, along with tougher practice debates that will continue to challenge students. Students will be pushed to research complex topics related to international relations, financial policy, and more!
Dates and Information Summary
Class runs for 10 weeks, once per week, 1.5 hours per class.
Session Dates: Sep 16th/17th - Nov 25th/26th (no classes week of Sep 30th)
Monday Session: Mondays, 5:00 - 6:30 PM EST
Tuesday Session: Tuesdays, 5:00 - 6:30 PM EST
Location: In Person - Millburn High School
Age Range: Grades 4 - 8 (we will group into classes of 6-8 students based on age and prior experience).
Coaches: Teachers are local debaters with leadership credentials and strong competitive records. Past teachers include the president of Millburn Debate, and winner of Harvard tournament. Click here for a full list of our coaches.
Tuition - $600
Refund Policy: Class can be cancelled with a 100% refund up to 72 hours before class begins.

(2) Referral discount: Each student who checks out and writes that you referred them will get you $75 off of tuition in the form of a digital refund. Referred students must be new students (did not attend past Atlas sessions).
